According to Minister Fatima Zahraa Mansouri, statistics showed that the number of beneficiaries of the “housing subsidy” program reached 12,795 individuals, including 43 percent of women.
Al-Mansouri explained that 40 percent of the beneficiaries will receive support for housing costing less than 300,000 dirhams, while 60 percent will receive support between 300,000 and 700,000 dirhams, noting that the total amount of support granted amounts to 1.05 billion dirhams.
The minister confirmed that 76,190 people registered for the program in just five months, and that 90 percent of them meet the conditions of benefit, noting that 23 percent of the applications were submitted by Moroccans, and 38 percent were submitted by women.
Regarding the positive results of the housing support program, Mansouri said that the cement consumption index increased by 21 percent in April 2024 compared to the same period last year, creating 19,000 jobs and injecting 5 billion dirhams of real estate transactions into the national economy, in addition to increasing the proportion of loans directed to housing by 1.4 percent and those directed to real estate developers by 4.2 percent during the period from March 2023 to March 2024.
Regarding the building authorization process in rural areas, Mansouri noted the ministry’s efforts to accelerate the coverage of rural communities with construction documents, with 269 construction documents approved by May 2024, covering 86 percent of a total of 1503 rural communities. She noted that 84 percent of rural communities were covered.
Mansouri added that these measures contributed to a 45 percent increase in the number of licenses, and that the ministry is currently working on improving the legal system for the rural world, including updating Law 12.90 and the draft law on the creation of regional agencies for urbanization and housing.
