Ibn Baja Hospital in Taza / Public Prosecution orders detailed investigation after fetus separated from its head during childbirth

The Public Prosecution in Taza ordered the judicial police to open a detailed investigation into the incident in which a foetus was separated from its body in the maternity ward of the Ibn Baja Regional Hospital.

According to the Media and Communication Committee of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights in Taza, some members of the Taza branch office listened to the statements of some health workers who participated in the delivery, who confirmed that the foetus was in labour. They confirmed that the foetus had been dead in the mother’s womb for days.

The mother stated that the supervising doctor informed her that her foetus had been dead for some time before the extraction was performed. The hospital director chose to comment on the matter by saying that the case is under legal investigation.
