Police officers from the regional security commissioner’s office in the city of Azrou arrested a 38-year-old man with a criminal record on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, on suspicion of involvement in an incident related to insulting public officials while they were carrying out their duties, in addition to possessing a sharp tool in a manner that poses a threat to public safety and causes damage to public property.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security, the suspect had entered one of the city’s hospitals before damaging public property in the facility and attacking medical and administrative staff with accusations and threats of physical assault, using the white weapon he was carrying, for reasons and motives that investigations are underway to determine. These criminal acts were the subject of a video clip that was circulated by users of instant messaging applications on mobile phones.
The immediate intervention of the police officers responsible for securing this hospital and its surroundings resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of the white weapon used in this assault, shortly after these criminal acts were committed.
The suspect was placed in police custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to uncover all the circumstances and details of this case, as well as to determine the real motives behind the commission of these criminal acts.
