Fès – Le quartier Ziat de la médina de Fès a accueilli, lundi, un exercice de simulation des opérations de secours et de sauvetage, sous la supervision de la Protection civile marocaine, avec la participation de plusieurs acteurs institutionnels, dans le cadre du renforcement de la préparation face aux situations d’urgence dans un tissu urbain complexe.
Fes – The Ziat district in the old medina of Fes hosted on Monday a simulation exercise of rescue and emergency operations, supervised by the Moroccan Civil Protection, with the participation of several institutional stakeholders, as part of efforts to strengthen preparedness for emergencies in a complex urban environment.

Cet exercice a été organisé en partenariat avec l’Agence de développement et de réhabilitation de la ville de Fès, en coordination avec les services de santé, notamment le Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Hassan II de Fès, ainsi qu’avec les autorités locales et sécuritaires, afin de tester la réactivité des intervenants et améliorer l’efficacité des opérations dans les zones difficiles d’accès.
The exercise was conducted in partnership with the Agency for the Development and Rehabilitation of the City of Fes, in coordination with health services, notably the Hassan II University Hospital Center of Fes, as well as local and security authorities, with the aim of testing response readiness and improving operational efficiency in hard-to-access areas.

Le scénario simulé reposait sur un incendie déclenché dans un atelier d’artisanat, suivi d’une explosion ayant provoqué un effondrement partiel du bâtiment, nécessitant une intervention urgente pour prendre en charge les victimes et gérer des matières dangereuses, tout en testant la rapidité d’intervention dans des ruelles étroites et difficiles d’accès.
The simulated scenario involved a fire breaking out in a craft workshop, followed by an explosion causing a partial building collapse, requiring urgent intervention to assist victims and manage hazardous materials, while testing response speed in narrow and difficult-to-access alleys.

L’exercice visait à évaluer l’efficacité des protocoles d’intervention et à renforcer la coordination opérationnelle entre les différents services, notamment les équipes de secours, les unités spécialisées dans les matières dangereuses, les équipes cynotechniques et les équipes médicales.
The exercise aimed to assess the effectiveness of intervention protocols and strengthen operational coordination among various services, including rescue teams, hazardous materials units, canine teams, and medical staff.

Dans une déclaration, le commandant régional de la Protection civile dans la région Fès-Meknès, Abdelaziz Makhmakh, a indiqué que cette simulation s’inscrit dans le cadre de la préparation aux catastrophes potentielles, en raison notamment des spécificités de la médina caractérisée par l’étroitesse des ruelles et la fragilité de certaines constructions.
In a statement, the regional commander of Civil Protection in the Fes–Meknes region, Abdelaziz Makhmakh, stated that this simulation is part of preparations for potential disasters, particularly given the specific features of the medina, including narrow alleys and the fragility of certain buildings.

De son côté, le délégué provincial du ministère de la Santé à Fès, Khalid Sniter, a précisé que l’exercice a permis de tester la readiness du système de santé, notamment en matière de gestion d’un afflux potentiel de victimes et de coordination des différents niveaux d’intervention.
For his part, the provincial delegate of the Ministry of Health in Fes, Khalid Sniter, explained that the exercise made it possible to test the readiness of the healthcare system, particularly in handling a potential influx of casualties and coordinating different levels of response.

La directrice du Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Hassan II de Fès, Fatima Zahra Mernissi, a souligné que cette expérience constitue une opportunité pour renforcer la coordination entre les différents intervenants et améliorer la qualité de prise en charge des victimes en situation d’urgence.
The director of the Hassan II University Hospital Center of Fes, Fatima Zahra Mernissi, highlighted that this experience provides an opportunity to strengthen coordination among stakeholders and improve the quality of care for victims in emergency situations.

Cet exercice illustre une orientation continue vers l’amélioration de la préparation opérationnelle et le renforcement des mécanismes d’intervention rapide, afin de protéger les vies humaines et préserver le patrimoine urbain de la médina de Fès.
This exercise reflects an ongoing approach to enhancing operational preparedness and strengthening rapid response mechanisms, in order to protect lives and preserve the urban heritage of the Fes medina.
