Boulemane – The “Soussou Mehni” center in the territorial commune of Kiko hosted on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, an awareness and outreach campaign targeting pregnant and breastfeeding women as part of the national initiative launched by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in partnership with the National Initiative for Human Development under the slogan: “Optimal Nutrition for Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women: An Investment in the Health of Future Generations.”
The initiative, running from April 6 to May 6, 2026, forms part of the operational program overseen by the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Boulemane, in partnership with the National Initiative for Human Development and in coordination with provincial and local authorities, the Provincial Directorate of National Cooperation, and the local association “Atlas Women for Human Development,” under the supervision of the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection in the Fès-Meknès region.
The campaign brought together medical, nursing, and administrative staff, alongside representatives of local authorities, including the head of the Boulemane district, the commander of Kiko, and members of the auxiliary forces.
A total of 75 pregnant and breastfeeding women benefited from a series of awareness workshops focusing on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, balanced nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding, complementary infant feeding after six months, and the essential role of nutrition during the first 1,000 days of a child’s life.
Participants also received a range of medical and nursing services, including ultrasound examinations, blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, hemoglobin level checks, pregnancy follow-up consultations, and various medical consultations.
As part of efforts to support pregnant women and promote healthy practices, medicines and nutritional supplements were distributed, along with 21 baby care kits containing hygiene products and essential infant supplies.
This initiative forms part of broader efforts aimed at improving maternal and child health and bringing healthcare services closer to rural populations, while promoting a culture of prevention and healthy nutrition as a key foundation for building healthier future generations.
