The UK’s Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Justice, David Lammy, on Thursday, April 24, 2026, praised the progress achieved in the enhanced strategic partnership between the United Kingdom and Morocco. His remarks came during talks with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, as part of a working visit to London.

During the meeting, the British official highlighted the growing momentum in bilateral relations since the launch of the enhanced strategic partnership, which was signed during the strategic dialogue held in Rabat on June 1, 2025. He noted that cooperation between the two countries continues to expand, supporting economic growth and strengthening security.

Lammy described the partnership as marking a “new phase” in Morocco–UK relations, based on broadening areas of cooperation and leveraging available opportunities, within the framework of diplomatic ties that span more than 800 years—among the oldest in the world.

This cooperation covers several key sectors, including security and defense, maritime cooperation, energy transition, food security, water resource management, and the healthcare sector. It is part of a comprehensive approach aimed at building a sustainable, high-value partnership.

This dynamic also contributes to strengthening regional stability through coordination of positions and the development of joint cooperation mechanisms, in line with current global challenges, while reinforcing Morocco’s position as a strategic partner for the United Kingdom.

The meeting comes amid intensified high-level bilateral consultations, reflecting the shared determination to elevate Morocco–UK relations to broader horizons, centered on economic and security cooperation, as well as the exchange of expertise in priority sectors.
