His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, chaired today, Wednesday in Casablanca, the launch ceremony of an ambitious program for structured railway projects aimed at modernizing and expanding the transportation network in the Greater Casablanca area. These projects will contribute to providing sustainable and efficient solutions to the mobility challenges faced by the economic capital.
The program, overseen by the National Office of Railways with a total investment amounting to several billion dirhams, aims to establish an integrated network of rapid regional trains (RER), similar to global networks, connecting Casablanca with the cities of Mohammedia, Nouaceur, and Mohammed V International Airport, in addition to enhancing connectivity within the city.
The project includes constructing new railway lines, tripling the existing line between Casablanca and Mohammedia, and building new stations in vital areas such as Hay Al Lemon and the new city of Rahma, along with upgrading current stations, particularly Casablanca Port and Casablanca Voyageurs stations.
These strategic projects reflect the royal vision to accompany the urban and demographic development of major cities, improving citizens’ quality of life by providing modern, environmentally friendly transportation means that help reduce travel time and alleviate traffic congestion.
