The Indian Defense Minister arrived today in Morocco for an official visit aimed at reinforcing and deepening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the military and industrial fields. The minister is expected to jointly inaugurate with Mr. Abdelatif Loudiyi, the Delegate Minister to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, a modern factory for the production of WHAP 8×8 combat armored vehicles in the outskirts of Casablanca.
This industrial military project represents a strategic step that reflects the strong Moroccan-Indian partnership, as the new factory will produce these armored vehicles entirely with qualified Moroccan national expertise, marking a qualitative leap in local defense manufacturing.
The factory was established through investment by the Indian company TATA Advanced Systems, a leader in the defense industry. It enhances Morocco’s position as an emerging hub for military industry in Africa and opens new avenues for technology transfer and development of national expertise in the defense sector.
The project is also expected to create new job opportunities and expand the national skill base in high-technology industries, alongside strengthening the capabilities of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces by providing advanced combat vehicles that meet modern international standards.
This visit and the new factory symbolize the practical steps toward diversifying and enhancing Morocco’s defense capabilities and cementing a strong, sustainable partnership with India in the defense industry sector.
