The cry of the people of Tisa: Between thirst, disease, and unemployment, where is the dignity of the citizen?

The Democratic Left Federation in Taza considers that the city is living in a tragic situation due to a suffocating, multi-dimensional crisis resulting from systematic marginalization and the lack of genuine political will from officials. The Federation has identified a set of problems affecting the city’s residents and has issued a public statement condemning the situation and calling on the authorities to take immediate action to find solutions.

Key Points Outlined in the Statement

1. Multi-dimensional Crises:

  • Water Crisis: Continuous and repeated interruptions of the drinking water supply in Taza and neighboring communities, threatening the most basic conditions for a dignified life.
  • Stalled Development Projects: The local hospital project remains at a standstill, still just an empty structure. This deprives patients of their right to treatment and forces them to travel to other cities.
  • Unemployment and Environment: A high unemployment rate among youth amid the absence of effective development policies, coupled with noticeable environmental degradation, the spread of waste, and stray dogs.
  • Corruption and Lack of Transparency: The persistence of favoritism and nepotism in the distribution of opportunities and resources, which undermines the principle of equal opportunity and social justice.

2. Condemnation of the Ban Decision:

  • The local office condemns the authorities’ decision to ban the peaceful protest that was scheduled for August 15, 2025.
  • It considers the decision a manifestation of a repressive policy aimed at silencing free voices and confirms the continuation of a security-focused mindset in dealing with social demands.
  • The statement indicates that the ban is based on vague pretexts such as “endangering public security and order,” thereby blatantly disregarding the constitutional provisions related to the freedoms of assembly and protest.

3. Demands and Recommendations:

  • Completion of the Hospital Project: The statement demands immediate action to complete the construction of the local hospital and open it to the public.
  • Resolution of the Water Crisis: It calls for a radical solution to the water crisis by accelerating the completion of scheduled projects and connecting the city to major water systems.
  • Provision of Job Opportunities: It emphasizes the need to implement genuine development policies aimed at employing youth and establishing vocational training institutes.
  • Assumption of Responsibility: It urges the elected authorities to assume their full responsibility for the city’s cleanliness and to eradicate the phenomenon of waste proliferation and stray dogs.
  • Fighting Corruption: It renews its rejection of all forms of corruption and favoritism, and calls for the adoption of principles of transparency and democracy in all local governance policies.

4. Emphasis on Peaceful Struggle:

  • The statement concludes by affirming the Democratic Left Federation’s full alignment with the residents in all their peaceful and legitimate struggles to defend their rights and social demands.
