URGENT: Ghafsai Farmers Erupt in Protest Over Cannabis Licensing Violations

Outraged farmers demand intervention as unfair licensing policies jeopardize their future

TAOUNATE – Exclusive: In a dramatic escalation, a convoy of dozens of vehicles from Ghafsai district arrived moments ago at the Taounate Provincial Headquarters. Farmers are protesting systematic violations in cannabis cultivation licensing frameworks, which they say threaten the very survival of small-scale farmers in the region.

Protesters emphasized that these violations—manifested in arbitrary license allocations and opaque regulatory enforcement—have catastrophically impacted their agricultural activities and livelihood stability. They are demanding urgent intervention to save the farming season and ensure equitable licensing practices.

The demonstrators condemned what they termed “non-transparent policies” that deliberately marginalize small-scale farmers. They stressed that manipulated licensing standards expose them to severe legal and financial risks, exacerbating their struggles without providing alternative support mechanisms.

This escalation follows numerous local appeals that—according to participants—received no substantive response from authorities, compelling them to bring their protest directly to provincial headquarters as a final effort to highlight the crisis.

Amid growing fears of season-wide collapse, farmers are calling for:

  1. Immediate review of cannabis cultivation license allocation criteria
  2. Full transparency in procedures and an end to discrimination against small farmers
  3. Legal guarantees protecting them from arbitrary prosecution
