Ministry of Interior Ends Exceptional Building Permits, Allocates Public Lands for Productive Investments

The Ministry of Interior has announced the termination of exceptional building permits as part of its efforts to combat the widespread abuse of laws concerning the exploitation of state and communal lands on the outskirts of cities. These lands were often illegally converted from investment projects into real estate developments.

Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of Interior, issued strict instructions to abolish the use of exceptional permits to better regulate the utilization of public lands and prevent their unauthorized conversion.

According to informed sources, the ministry has decided to allocate all public lands located around major cities exclusively for productive investments, particularly in industrial zones. This marks a departure from previous practices over past years, where such lands were sometimes granted exceptional permits allowing their transformation into real estate projects.

This decision aligns with a national strategy aimed at promoting sustainable economic development and ensuring that public lands are used in ways that serve the public interest, while curbing illegal practices that negatively impact urban and economic growth.
