Residents of Simi Marché Atlas Neighborhood in Fez Complain About Stray Dogs and Call for Urgent Solutions

The newspaper has received exclusive information and photos from one of its readers documenting the suffering of residents in the Simi Marché Atlas neighborhood in Fez, specifically near the Steem Messaging Agency. The reader reported that he took the photo while on his way to Atlas Mosque for Maghrib prayer, where he was surprised by a large number of stray dogs roaming near the road, causing fear and anxiety among the residents.

The reader added, “We live in daily torment because of these dogs. I have personally submitted countless complaints to the relevant authorities, but the result is what you see in the photo and the daily fear we endure.”

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Interior has issued a directive prohibiting the killing of stray dogs, emphasizing the need to find alternative and humane solutions to this issue, such as chemical sterilization or establishing collective shelters to house and protect the dogs while ensuring public safety.

Residents are calling on local authorities to intervene urgently and implement the ministry’s recommendations to put an end to their daily suffering and ensure security and peace in the neighborhood, especially with the increasing number of stray dogs near residential and religious institutions.
