The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali, Mr. Abdoulaye Diop, expressed his deep gratitude for the continuous support provided by the Kingdom of Morocco to the countries of the Sahel Alliance, emphasizing that this support represents a steadfast royal commitment to African solidarity.
In a press statement following the royal reception held on Monday at the Royal Palace in Rabat, attended by the foreign ministers of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, Diop stated that the meeting provided an opportunity to convey messages of greetings and appreciation from the heads of state of the three countries to His Majesty King Mohammed VI. He pointed out that this direct interaction reflects the depth of the fraternal bonds between Morocco and these countries.
The Malian official clarified that the Sahel Alliance countries highly value their growing relations with Morocco, both at the bilateral level and within the framework of collective cooperation. He emphasized that these relations are characterized by mutual trust and are becoming stronger over time.
Diop also highlighted the royal initiative aimed at enabling the Sahel countries to access the Atlantic Ocean, describing it as a transformative step that could break geographic isolation and enhance opportunities for economic integration and security stability in the region.
He praised Morocco’s stance in supporting the political transition processes of the Sahel countries, stressing that Morocco has always been committed to communication and dialogue without any impositions, which strengthens the prospects for cooperation based on respect for sovereignty and independence.
In conclusion, the Malian Foreign Minister stated that during this meeting, His Majesty the King reaffirmed Morocco’s full commitment to expanding and deepening cooperation with the Sahel countries, in support of their security, stability, and the interests of their people.
