Under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, Morocco is continuing its preparations to host the 2030 World Cup, as it seeks to ensure a perfect organization that enhances its international standing, the Spanish newspaper La Rathón reported in its Thursday edition.
The historic success of the “Atlas Lions” in Qatar 2022 has given a great moral boost to the Kingdom, boosting national pride and solidifying Morocco’s commitment to present a distinguished edition of the World Cup that meets the expectations of football fans globally, the newspaper highlighted.
In this context, the Kingdom is accelerating its efforts by modernizing its sports infrastructure, improving the transportation network, and enhancing skills training, under an ambitious vision that is in line with international standards. Among the notable projects is the construction of the Hassan II Stadium in Casablanca, which will be the largest with a capacity of 115,000 spectators, as well as the modernization and renovation of stadiums in Rabat, Tangier, Fes, Agadir and Marrakech, to be ready to host this global football event.
The newspaper also noted the ongoing efforts to improve the transportation network, by extending the high-speed train line to Marrakech, developing the road infrastructure in the economic capital Casablanca, as well as expanding major airports to increase their capacity.
In the health sector, Larathon praised the project to build the largest hospital center in Africa in Rabat, which will contribute to enhancing medical services during the World Cup and beyond.
The newspaper explained that Morocco achieved a record number of tourists, attracting 17.4 million visitors in 2024, reflecting its growing attractiveness and its quest to become the number one tourist destination on the African continent by 2030.
Larathon concluded its report by emphasizing that organizing the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco will serve as a comprehensive test of its organizational capabilities, paving the way for a successful hosting of the 2030 World Cup.
