The community of Bouchefa, in the Wadi Amlil district of Taza province, is preparing to elect a new president to replace the current president of the National Liberal Rally Party, who was convicted of embezzling public funds and sentenced to imprisonment.
According to available data, the Taza regional authorities have set the period for placing nominations for the position of the new president, which will start on Saturday, February 8, 2025, and continue until Wednesday, February 12 of the same month, with the election of the new president to be held on Monday, February 17.
The Court of Cassation had upheld the verdict issued by the Fes Court of Appeal, which convicted President Ali Mouzazi to one year in prison, including six months in force, after he was found guilty of misappropriating public funds worth more than 13 million centimeters, while he was acquitted of the charge of abuse of influence, and was obliged to pay a fine and civil compensation to the village community and return the embezzled amount.
The prosecution of the convicted president dates back to a complaint filed by his successor to the King’s Prosecutor in Fez, which prompted the regional judicial police squad to open an investigation into the charges against him, before referring the file to the investigating judge in charge of financial crimes.
