Hanane Mansouri Calls for the Abolition of the Study Group on Western Sahara in the French National Assembly

In a bold move reflecting the impact of diplomatic policy, Deputy Hanane Mansouri has sent a letter to the President of the French National Assembly calling for the abolition of the study group concerning Western Sahara. This step comes in the context of the deputy’s opposition to the current direction that contradicts France’s official position supporting the territorial integrity of Morocco.

In her letter, Mansouri emphasized the importance of reevaluating the existence of this study group in the National Assembly, especially as it conflicts with recent French diplomatic stances that affirm support for Morocco’s territorial unity. She pointed out that continuing to operate this group could lead to misunderstandings with Moroccan partners who maintain deep and historical strategic relations with France.

The letter stated: “I would like to request that you, Madam President, initiate the necessary procedures to terminate the existence of this study group, which has become inappropriate in light of official French positions.”

Mansouri added in a statement: “I have addressed the president to request the cancellation of the study group on Western Sahara. This group disrupts our diplomatic orientations and contradicts France’s official stance on Morocco’s territorial integrity.”

This initiative comes at a sensitive time as France seeks to strengthen its relations with Morocco, highlighting the sensitivity of diplomatic issues in addressing regional conflicts.
