The French Ambassador to Morocco, Christophe Lecourtier, provided significant information regarding the visa situation between Morocco and France during an interview with “Medi 1 TV” channel. Lecourtier confirmed that the visa crisis is now over, with the French Embassy managing to return to previous levels of visa issuance for Moroccans between 2023 and 2024, making Morocco the second-largest recipient of French visas after China.
The Ambassador emphasized the need to facilitate exchanges between the two countries for all categories, whether for personal, family, professional, artistic, or cultural purposes. Regarding the issue of intermediaries trading in visa appointments, Lecourtier explained that a new system has been implemented in Rabat to address this problem, with plans to expand it to other locations.
For students studying in France, numbering around 50,000, the Ambassador confirmed ongoing efforts to expedite visa procedures and facilitate parental accompaniment. He also noted France’s commitment to enabling students who previously studied in France to obtain visas easily and quickly throughout their lives.
Lecourtier added that France treats visa applications for students studying in French missions in Morocco with the same priority and speed. These statements come as part of ongoing efforts to improve relations between the two countries and facilitate the movement of people between them.
The Ambassador also highlighted that work is underway to accelerate visa procedures for students and enable their parents to accompany them. Furthermore, Paris is keen to ensure that students who have previously studied in France can benefit from visas in a smooth and quick manner throughout their lives, in addition to handling visa applications for students studying in French missions in Morocco with the same approach and required speed.
These clarifications from the French Ambassador reflect the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and address previous concerns regarding visa issuance, emphasizing a more open and facilitative approach to mobility between Morocco and France.
