Trilleborg’s New Aviation Factory Launches in Morocco, Boosting Aerospace Sector

Construction work began Tuesday in Nouaceur for Trilleborg’s new industrial facility specializing in aviation waterproofing systems, in a ceremony attended by Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.

With an investment of 106 million dirhams (10.2 million euros), this project will create between 150-200 jobs in the long term and will develop new capabilities in the local aviation sector value chain, aligning with the kingdom’s strategy to improve the sector’s local integration rate.

This strategic investment is part of Boeing’s ecosystem development in Morocco, following a protocol agreement signed between Morocco and Trilleborg during the Marrakech Air Show 2024, held from October 30 to November 2, 2024.

Minister Mezzour emphasized that this factory represents a qualitative addition that will accelerate Morocco’s integration into the global aviation supply chain, enhancing local suppliers’ competitiveness and creating highly qualified jobs.

According to Gordon Roper, President of Trilleborg’s Aerospace Business Unit, global demand for new aircraft has reached unprecedented levels. The sector will need approximately 45,000 new aircraft by 2030, driven by carbon neutrality goals, fleet renewal with more fuel-efficient models, and growth in global trade and tourism.

Trilleborg, founded in Sweden in 1905, is a global leader in polymer solutions with a turnover of 2.99 billion euros in 2023. The company employs over 15,600 people across 40 countries, operating in key sectors including general industry (65% of turnover), automotive (16%), aviation (10%), and medical (9%). In Morocco, Trilleborg already operates an automotive industry facility in Kenitra.
