Morocco Wins Gold Medal at the World Robot Olympiad

The Moroccan team “NexTech” achieved a significant milestone by winning the gold medal at the World Robot Olympiad finals, held in Izmir, Turkey, from November 28 to 30. The team secured fourth place globally in the “Future Innovators Senior” category, standing out among over 400 teams representing 90 countries worldwide.

This competition is one of the most prestigious international events in the fields of technological innovation and robotics, organized by the International Association of the World Robot Olympiad. The qualification of Team NexTech was confirmed through their outstanding performance during the national selections, which involved 65 teams from various regions of Morocco.

In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency (MAP), Zineb El Amrani, a member of the NexTech team, explained that their innovative project titled “Terra Genius” is a robot specifically designed to support sustainable agriculture through capabilities in planting, monitoring, and irrigation. This project reflects the team’s commitment to providing innovative technical solutions to address environmental and agricultural challenges.

Organizers noted that this achievement represents a great pride for Morocco and enhances its position on the international technological stage, emphasizing that it serves as a catalyst to encourage Moroccan youth to engage more in innovation, science, and technology.

It is worth mentioning that Morocco was represented by five teams at this international event themed “Allies of the Planet,” which attracted hundreds of young people from around the world competing in innovation and sustainable technological solutions.

The World Robot Olympiad aims to promote creativity and skills in robotics among youth aged 8 to 19 while encouraging them to explore science, technology, and education in a fun way.
