Provincial Health Delegation in Taza Organizes Early Detection Campaign for Breast and Cervical Cancer

The Provincial Health and Social Protection Delegation in the Taza region, under the supervision of the Regional Health Directorate and in collaboration with the Basmat Al Khair Association, organized a medical campaign for the early detection of breast and cervical cancer on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

The campaign, coordinated with local authorities, took place at the level two rural health center in the Oulad Zbayr area, in the Ouad Amlil district.

In addition to screenings for breast and cervical cancer, the campaign included additional tests for HIV/AIDS and syphilis, as well as medical consultations and ultrasound examinations.

The campaign also focused on raising awareness, offering educational sessions on the importance of early detection and its impact on prevention and treatment.

A total of 749 women benefited from the campaign, with 407 undergoing breast cancer screening and 185 receiving cervical cancer screenings. Additionally, 38 pregnancy check-ups were conducted using ultrasound, while the total number of ultrasound exams reached 60.

Furthermore, 97 beneficiaries received medical consultations, while 38 women underwent testing for syphilis and HIV. The campaign also included awareness and educational sessions, which reached 804 women.

As part of the medical examinations, 24 cases were referred to the specialized center for further tests, including 6 cases related to breast cancer and 18 related to cervical cancer.

This campaign is part of the national campaign for early detection of breast and cervical cancer, launched by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection under the slogan “Screening Now Ensures Safety and Stability, Don’t Hesitate.” It targets women aged 40-69 for breast cancer screenings and women aged 30-49 for cervical cancer screenings.
