Governor of Fez-Meknes Closes Event Hall Following Newspaper Article

The Moroccan newspaper “Al-Akhbar” reported that Mr. Said Zniber, the governor of the Fez-Meknes region, has issued a decision to close an event hall in the city of Fez. This decision came in response to an article published by the newspaper and due to the hall owner’s failure to comply with the granted renovation permit.

According to sources, the district president attempted to communicate with the governor to appeal the decision, but the governor refused to receive him and insisted on the closure order. This decision comes in response to demands from residents of the Roudh Assalam subdivision on Imouzzer Road, who objected to granting a permit for opening an event hall in a residential area.

The sources clarified that the hall in question is originally a villa intended for residential use. According to the objection document, the person responsible for the hall attempted to circumvent the law by presenting a waiver of an old permit, knowing that such permits are issued on a personal basis and expire upon the death of the holder, and cannot be transferred.

This measure comes as part of local authorities’ efforts to regulate property use in accordance with applicable laws and to respond to local residents’ concerns about the inappropriate use of residential buildings.
