On Wednesday, the Marrakech Regional Judicial Police Squad opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecution to determine the criminal acts attributed to two police officers suspected of involvement in a case related to theft and bribery.
According to preliminary information, an inspector and a senior inspector in one of Marrakech’s security services are suspected of having taken a sum of money from a person detained in custody, in the framework of a case under investigation, and are suspected of having accepted a bribe from a member of the detainee’s family, in exchange for not carrying out certain procedures related to the investigation.
The two officers were kept in custody pending the completion of investigations under the supervision of the Public Prosecution, with the aim of uncovering all the details, reasons and backgrounds related to this case.
The General Directorate of National Security is expected to take administrative and disciplinary measures against those involved, after the judicial authorities complete the necessary investigation.
