Parliamentarian Touhami Wazzani Touhami appealed to the Ministry of Interior to intervene urgently to curb crimes that threaten the safety of the residents of the ancient city of Fez.
In the context of a written question addressed to Interior Minister Abdelwafi El Feteet, the MP expressed his dismay at the rise in crime cases in recent days, as the city witnessed horrific murders in the areas of Sahrij Kanawa and Bensouda’s Ain Chaqif, which created a deep shock among the population.
The MP praised the efforts of the security authorities in confronting crime in the city, noting the professionalism that emerged in dealing with the recent tragic incidents. However, he emphasized the need to establish participatory strategies that bring together all actors and stakeholders, in order to face these security challenges seriously and responsibly.
Touhami stressed the importance of maintaining the reputation of Fez as a prominent tourist and spiritual destination, noting that reducing serious crimes is essential to ensure the stability of the city and the safety of its inhabitants.
The parliamentarian asked what concrete steps the government will take to achieve this goal, emphasizing that teamwork and coordination between different parties is the only way to reach positive results in this regard.
