The Ministry of National Education, Primary Education, and Sports in the Kingdom of Morocco issued an important decision on July 15, 2024, to cancel all salary deductions for employees related to collective work stoppages.
This decision comes as part of implementing the outcomes of the sectoral social dialogue held on December 10 and 26, 2023, which culminated in the adoption of the basic statute for employees of the ministry responsible for national education.
In his letter addressed to the Director of Employee Expenditures at the Kingdom’s General Treasury, the Minister confirmed that this measure aims to:
- Consolidate the positive atmosphere that allowed the 2023/2024 academic year to end under good conditions.
- Enhance trust levels with various workers in the educational system and social partners.
The Minister requested the relevant departments to work on canceling all salary deductions for employees recorded in the information system that have not been implemented to date.
He also indicated that the Human Resources and Staff Training Directorate will remain at the disposal of the competent departments to provide them with complete lists of employees concerned by the mentioned deductions.
The Minister concluded his letter by emphasizing that this measure will contribute to completing the clearing of the atmosphere and establishing a healthy and stable social climate. This will help achieve comprehensive mobilization of all educational and administrative staff and social partners in the reform dynamic.
This decision reflects the ministry’s commitment to improving relations with educational staff and resolving issues related to previous labor disputes in the education sector.
