Palestinian Delegation Visits Morocco to Discuss Cooperation in Support of Al-Quds

Rabat, June 24, 2024: A high-level Palestinian delegation will begin an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco tomorrow, Monday, which will last until June 28, at the invitation of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency.

This visit, which comes within the framework of the “virtue of continuous consultation” between the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency and its Palestinian partners, aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of supporting the occupied city of Jerusalem, especially in light of the rapid developments that followed the painful events of October 2023.

The Palestinian delegation includes prominent figures from various fields,

  • Headed by Dr. Ashraf Al-Awar, Minister of Jerusalem Affairs in the new Palestinian government.
  • The delegation also includes Mr. Moatasem Tim, Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Jerusalem in the Palestinian Presidency, and Mr. Abdullah Siam, Deputy Governor of Jerusalem, and lawyer Kamal Obeidat, Head of the Jerusalem Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
  • Sheikh Dr. Ismail Nawahadeh, Khatib of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and Bishop Munib Younan, former president of the Lutheran World Federation, will also participate in the visit.

In addition to these figures, the delegation includes representatives of Palestinian universities,

  • Where a delegation from Al-Quds University participates, headed by Professor Dr. Imad Abu Kishk, President of the university, and Dr. Safa Nasser Al-Din, Secretary-General of the University Presidency.
  • The delegation also includes representatives of Al-Azhar University in Gaza, headed by Dr. Khalil Abu Al-Fool, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the university, and Dr. Omar Milad, President of the university, in addition to lawyer Mamdouh Jaber, a member of the Board of Trustees and a member of the university’s legal committee.

During this visit,

  • The Palestinian delegation will hold meetings with a number of Moroccan government sectors, as well as with the two houses of parliament.
  • They will also hold meetings with party, trade union and civil society figures.
  • The delegation will witness the opening of the “Beit Al-Quds” Center for Research and Studies at the headquarters of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency.
  • The delegation will also sign cooperation and partnership agreements with the agency and a number of Moroccan institutions.

This visit comes to affirm the depth of the fraternal and historical relations that bind the Kingdom of Morocco and the Palestinian people, the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to supporting the just Palestinian cause, supporting the occupied city of Jerusalem, and strengthening the steadfastness of its people.

It is worth noting that the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency is a Moroccan government agency that works to preserve and restore Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem, and to support the Palestinian people in the city.

The agency has implemented a number of projects in Jerusalem, including the restoration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Dome of the Rock, and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. It has also provided financial and humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people in the city.

The agency’s efforts have contributed to preserving the Islamic character of Jerusalem and to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people in the city.
