Spanish giants Real Madrid announced on Monday that they have signed French striker Kylian Mbappe on a five-season free transfer.
The club’s statement read: ‘Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Kylian Mbappe, who will be linked to the club until the end of the 2027-2028 season.’
The signing of Mbappe, 24, is a very big deal for Real Madrid, as the young French striker will add attacking firepower to the team and help them achieve their future goals.
Mbappe, who used to play for Paris Saint-Germain, has always expressed his dream of playing for Real Madrid, whose posters have been hanging in his bedroom since he was a child. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been trying to sign him for the past two years.
According to media reports, Mbappe will earn an estimated annual salary of €35 million, slightly higher than his new teammates Vinicius and Bilginham, but much lower than his previous €70 million salary at Saint-Germain.
Mbappe is expected to continue to join France’s current camp as they prepare for two friendlies against Luxembourg and Canada in preparation for the upcoming European Championship.
