Rabat, Morocco: The Republic of Senegal has reiterated, through Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs Yacine Fall, its ‘firm and unwavering’ support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Moroccan Sahara.
Strong support for Morocco’s territorial integrity
This position was reiterated in a joint statement issued following talks held on Monday in Rabat between Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita and Yassine Fall, who is making her first visit to the Kingdom in her capacity as Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs of Senegal.
Support for the autonomy plan
In this joint statement, the Senegalese Foreign Minister reiterated Senegal’s full support for the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom of Morocco, which constitutes the only credible and realistic solution to resolve the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
Praise for UN efforts
Minister Fall also praised the efforts made by the United Nations as the exclusive framework to reach a realistic, practical and lasting solution to the conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
A concrete step to strengthen bilateral relations
On 5 April 2021, the Republic of Senegal opened a consulate general in the city of Dakhla, as a reflection of its firm determination to strengthen its bilateral relations with the Kingdom of Morocco.
