France expressed its official gratitude to Morocco for its field and logistical support for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games during a meeting between Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit and his French counterpart Gérald Darmanin in Rabat today.
This gratitude comes after Morocco’s role in securing this global event has become clear, through its close cooperation with France in the field of intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism, and organized crime.
French Praise for the Moroccan Approach
The French Interior Minister praised the “appropriate and comprehensive” security approach adopted by Morocco, which combines field operations, information exchange, and preventive measures, especially in the fight against extremism and the rehabilitation of former fighters.
Darmanin also noted the “human and comprehensive” approach adopted by the Kingdom in the field of migration, emphasizing its “positive” role within the framework of the Permanent Joint Group on Migration.
Strengthening Security Cooperation
The two ministers discussed ways to further strengthen security cooperation between the two countries, in line with the aspirations of King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Talks focused on the exchange of expertise and information to counter common security threats, particularly those related to the criminal activities of terrorist groups and criminal networks, especially in the Sahel and Sahara region.
A Strong Strategic Partnership
Today’s meeting reaffirmed the strength of the strategic partnership between Morocco and France, which covers various fields, most notably security and migration.
This partnership embodies the two countries’ keenness to strengthen cooperation to meet common challenges and contribute to achieving security and stability in the region.
