Paris – L’ambassade du Maroc en France a annoncé, lundi, avoir déposé une plainte officielle auprès des autorités françaises à la suite de la profanation du drapeau national marocain à Aubervilliers, lors des incidents survenus en marge du match opposant le Maroc au Canada dans le cadre de la Coupe du Monde 2026.
Selon les informations disponibles, l’ambassade a condamné, dans un communiqué officiel, ce qu’elle a qualifié d’« actes graves et inacceptables », précisant que des vidéos et des documents authentifiés montrent le drapeau marocain déchiré et brûlé publiquement, dans des scènes largement relayées sur les réseaux sociaux.
L’ambassade a ajouté que ces actes constituent une atteinte à l’un des symboles de la souveraineté et de l’unité nationale, estimant qu’ils sont de nature à heurter les sentiments de la communauté marocaine et des Marocains résidant en France, ainsi que de toutes les personnes attachées aux valeurs de respect et de coexistence.
Le communiqué indique également que l’ambassade a documenté des enregistrements montrant des femmes portant les maillots de l’équipe nationale marocaine, accompagnées de leurs enfants, victimes de harcèlement verbal et de tentatives d’intimidation lors des célébrations sportives.
L’ambassade a confirmé avoir immédiatement informé les autorités françaises compétentes et déposé une plainte officielle afin qu’une enquête soit ouverte et que les responsabilités soient établies. Elle a, dans le même temps, salué la réactivité des services de sécurité, des autorités locales et de la municipalité d’Aubervilliers face à ces incidents.
Enfin, l’ambassade du Maroc a réaffirmé son attachement au respect des lois de la République française ainsi qu’aux symboles de tous les États, appelant à ce que les manifestations sportives demeurent un espace de compétition loyale et de respect mutuel, loin de toute forme de haine ou de violence.
After the Desecration of the Moroccan Flag in France, Rabat Takes Official Action and Turns to the Courts
Paris – The Embassy of Morocco in France announced on Monday that it has filed an official complaint with the French authorities following the desecration of the Moroccan national flag in Aubervilliers during incidents that occurred around the Morocco–Canada match in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to the available information, the embassy strongly condemned, in an official statement, what it described as “serious and unacceptable acts,” stressing that authenticated videos and documented evidence showed the Moroccan flag being publicly torn and burned in scenes that were widely circulated on social media platforms.
The embassy stated that these acts constitute an attack on one of the symbols of Morocco’s sovereignty and national unity, considering that they are likely to offend members of the Moroccan community and Moroccans living in France, as well as everyone who upholds the values of respect and peaceful coexistence.
The statement also noted that the embassy documented recordings showing women wearing Moroccan national team jerseys, accompanied by their children, being subjected to verbal harassment and intimidation during the sporting celebrations.
The embassy confirmed that it immediately notified the competent French authorities and filed an official complaint requesting the opening of an investigation and the identification of those responsible. At the same time, it expressed its appreciation for the prompt response of the French security services, local authorities, and the municipality of Aubervilliers.
The Moroccan Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to respecting the laws of the French Republic and the symbols of all nations, calling for sporting events to remain spaces of fair competition and mutual respect, free from all forms of hatred and violence.
