Le ministre des Affaires étrangères, de la Coopération africaine et des Marocains résidant à l’étranger, Nasser Bourita, a présidé les travaux de la cinquième session de la commission mixte de coopération entre le Maroc et la République du Niger, tenue dans la capitale Niamey, sur instructions du Roi Mohammed VI, dans le cadre du renforcement des relations bilatérales entre les deux pays.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, chaired the proceedings of the fifth session of the joint cooperation commission between Morocco and the Republic of Niger, held in the capital Niamey, under the instructions of King Mohammed VI, as part of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

Cette session s’est tenue sous coprésidence, du côté nigérien, du ministre des Affaires étrangères, de la Coopération et des Nigériens à l’étranger, Bakary Yaou Sangaré, avec une affirmation de la volonté des deux pays d’élever leurs relations à un partenariat stratégique multidimensionnel.
This session was co-chaired, on the Nigerien side, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad, Bakary Yaou Sangaré, with both countries affirming their willingness to elevate their relations to a multidimensional strategic partnership.

Dans son allocution d’ouverture, le ministre marocain a souligné que cette session constitue une étape importante pour réaffirmer la profondeur des relations historiques unissant les deux pays, ainsi que pour renforcer la volonté commune de les développer vers un partenariat stratégique global couvrant plusieurs domaines.
In his opening remarks, the Moroccan minister stressed that this session represents an important milestone to reaffirm the depth of the historical relations between the two countries and to strengthen the shared will to develop them into a comprehensive strategic partnership covering multiple sectors.

Dans ce contexte, il a mis en avant l’engagement du Maroc en faveur de la coopération Sud–Sud, considérée comme un choix stratégique constant de la politique étrangère du Royaume, évoquant les initiatives royales visant à renforcer l’intégration africaine, notamment l’initiative des États africains atlantiques et l’initiative royale visant à faciliter l’accès des pays du Sahel à l’océan Atlantique, contribuant ainsi au développement et à la stabilité du continent.
In this context, he highlighted Morocco’s commitment to South–South cooperation, considered a constant strategic choice of the Kingdom’s foreign policy, referring to royal initiatives aimed at strengthening African integration, notably the Atlantic African States initiative and the royal initiative to facilitate Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic Ocean, thereby contributing to the continent’s development and stability.

Il a également réaffirmé la pleine solidarité du Maroc avec le Niger face aux défis sécuritaires, en particulier ceux liés au terrorisme et à l’extrémisme, saluant la résilience des forces nigériennes et soulignant l’importance de l’approche religieuse dans la prévention de l’extrémisme, notamment à travers les programmes de formation des imams et des guides religieux, en particulier via l’Institut Mohammed VI pour la formation des imams.
He also reaffirmed Morocco’s full solidarity with Niger in facing security challenges, particularly those related to terrorism and extremism, praising the resilience of Nigerien forces and highlighting the importance of the religious approach in preventing extremism, notably through training programs for imams and religious guides, particularly via the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams.

Cette session a été marquée par la signature de plusieurs accords et mémorandums d’entente couvrant des secteurs stratégiques, notamment les énergies renouvelables, l’industrie pharmaceutique, la santé, le transport, les infrastructures, ainsi que les domaines de la jeunesse et des sports, dans le but de diversifier et renforcer la coopération bilatérale.
This session was marked by the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding covering key sectors, including renewable energy, the pharmaceutical industry, health, transport, infrastructure, as well as youth and sports, with the aim of diversifying and strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Le rôle croissant du secteur privé marocain au Niger a également été mis en avant, notamment dans les domaines bancaire, des télécommunications et du transport aérien, avec des perspectives prometteuses pour l’élargissement de ces investissements au service des intérêts des deux pays.
The growing role of the Moroccan private sector in Niger was also highlighted, particularly in banking, telecommunications, and air transport, with promising prospects for expanding these investments to serve the interests of both countries.

La rencontre a également salué le niveau de coopération dans les domaines académique, culturel et religieux, notamment à travers les programmes de bourses destinés aux étudiants nigériens, renforçant ainsi les liens humains et culturels entre les deux peuples.
The meeting also praised the level of cooperation in academic, cultural, and religious fields, notably through scholarship programs for Nigerien students, thereby strengthening human and cultural ties between the two peoples.

Dans un cadre parallèle, le président de la République du Niger, Abdourahamane Tiani, a reçu le ministre marocain, auquel ont été transmis les salutations du Roi Mohammed VI ainsi que ses vœux au peuple nigérien, tandis que le président nigérien a exprimé sa gratitude pour les initiatives de solidarité du Maroc et pour son rôle dans le soutien au développement et à la stabilité dans la région du Sahel.
In a parallel context, the President of the Republic of Niger, Abdourahamane Tiani, received the Moroccan minister, to whom he conveyed the greetings of King Mohammed VI and his best wishes to the Nigerien people, while the Nigerien president expressed his gratitude for Morocco’s solidarity initiatives and its role in supporting development and stability in the Sahel region.

Cette rencontre intervient dans le cadre de la cinquième session de la commission mixte, considérée comme une étape qualitative dans le renforcement de la coopération bilatérale, le ministre marocain soulignant qu’elle constitue un « tournant qualitatif » dans les relations entre les deux pays et le début d’une nouvelle phase plus avancée, répondant aux aspirations des dirigeants des deux nations et incarnant un modèle de coopération africaine fondé sur la solidarité et un partenariat équilibré.
This meeting comes within the framework of the fifth session of the joint commission, considered a qualitative milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation, with the Moroccan minister emphasizing that it represents a “qualitative turning point” in relations between the two countries and the beginning of a more advanced phase, meeting the aspirations of both nations’ leaders and embodying a model of African cooperation based on solidarity and balanced partnership.
