L’affaire trouve son origine dans des propos divulgués fin mars, attribués à l’ancien porte-parole, comportant des qualificatifs jugés offensants à l’encontre des députés Nissim Vaturi et Eliyahu Revivo, membres du parti Likoud, incluant des insinuations sur leur parcours politique et leur accès à la Knesset, ce qui a suscité une vague d’indignation dans les milieux politiques et médiatiques.
The case stems from remarks leaked in late March, attributed to the former spokesperson, which included offensive descriptions targeting lawmakers Nissim Vaturi and Eliyahu Revivo of the Likud party, along with insinuations about their political careers and their path to the Knesset, sparking widespread outrage in political and media circles.

Réagissant à ces accusations, Agamon a reconnu l’authenticité des propos qui lui sont attribués, affirmant toutefois qu’ils avaient été sortis de leur contexte, et précisant que leur diffusion provenait d’un ancien proche ayant divulgué des extraits de conversations privées.
In response, Agamon acknowledged the authenticity of the statements attributed to him but argued they were taken out of context, adding that they had been leaked by a former acquaintance who shared excerpts from private conversations.

Il a également rejeté le caractère raciste de ses propos, qualifiant ces accusations d’« inexactes », tout en évoquant ses propres origines familiales marocaines pour défendre sa position.

Malgré la présentation d’excuses officielles, les réactions indignées, y compris au sein du parti Likoud, se sont poursuivies, conduisant Agamon à notifier sa démission à Netanyahou, qui l’a acceptée afin de contenir les répercussions de l’affaire.
