Morocco – The Senegalese Football Federation has reacted to the case of several Senegalese supporters detained in Morocco following incidents that occurred during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, which brought together the Moroccan and Senegalese national teams in the capital, Rabat.
Maroc – La Fédération sénégalaise de football a réagi à l’affaire de plusieurs supporters sénégalais interpellés au Maroc, à la suite des incidents survenus lors de la finale de la Coupe d’Afrique des Nations 2025, qui a opposé les sélections marocaine et sénégalaise dans la capitale, Rabat.

The events reportedly took place in the final minutes of the match, when tensions arose in the stadium stands and surrounding areas, including attempted pitch invasions and the throwing of certain objects, prompting security services to intervene to restore order and ensure the safety of players and spectators.
Les faits remonteraient aux dernières minutes du match, lorsque des tensions ont éclaté dans les tribunes et aux abords du stade, avec des tentatives d’invasion de la pelouse ainsi que des jets de projectiles, ce qui a nécessité l’intervention des services de sécurité afin de rétablir l’ordre et de garantir la sécurité des joueurs et du public.

According to judicial sources, 18 Senegalese supporters and one Algerian supporter were detained on suspicion of involvement in acts of disorder. They were subjected to the applicable legal procedures under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
Selon des sources judiciaires, 18 supporters sénégalais et un supporter algérien ont été interpellés pour suspicion d’implication dans des actes de trouble, et ont été soumis aux procédures légales en vigueur sous la supervision du parquet compétent.

In an official statement, the Senegalese Federation affirmed that the Senegalese state is monitoring the case in coordination with the Moroccan authorities, expressing confidence in the ongoing legal process.
Dans un communiqué, la Fédération sénégalaise a affirmé que l’État sénégalais suit le dossier en coordination avec les autorités marocaines, exprimant sa confiance dans le processus judiciaire en cours.

It is worth noting that the Moroccan authorities handled the incidents in accordance with the laws governing sporting events, with full respect for legal guarantees and with a view to protecting public order and the safety of those present.
Il convient de rappeler que les autorités marocaines ont traité les incidents conformément aux lois encadrant les manifestations sportives, dans le plein respect des garanties légales et dans le souci de préserver l’ordre public et la sécurité des personnes présentes.

The case has been scheduled for several hearings before the Court of First Instance in Rabat and was postponed at the request of the concerned individuals to prepare their defense, pending further examination in accordance with the applicable legal procedures.
