Sa Majesté le Roi Mohammed VI, que Dieu L’assiste, a présidé ce mercredi 28 janvier 2026, au Palais Royal de Casablanca, une réunion de travail consacrée au suivi de l’état d’avancement des travaux du complexe portuaire et industriel Nador West Med, en perspective de son lancement opérationnel au cours du dernier trimestre de l’année en cours.
His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, chaired a working meeting on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Royal Palace in Casablanca, dedicated to monitoring the progress of the port and industrial complex Nador West Med, in anticipation of its operational launch during the last quarter of the current year.

Cette réunion s’inscrit dans le cadre de la Vision Royale visant à renforcer durablement l’ancrage de l’économie nationale dans les chaînes de valeur mondiales, à travers la mise en place d’infrastructures portuaires modernes capables de soutenir la compétitivité de l’économie marocaine et d’accompagner les mutations internationales dans les domaines du transport maritime et de la logistique.
This meeting forms part of the Royal Vision aimed at sustainably strengthening the integration of the national economy into global value chains, through the establishment of advanced port infrastructures capable of supporting the competitiveness of the Moroccan economy and accompanying international transformations in maritime transport and logistics.

Au cours de la réunion, le Président du Conseil d’administration de Nador West Med, Fouad Brini, a présenté à Sa Majesté le Roi un exposé portant sur l’état d’avancement des travaux et le bilan des réalisations accomplies à ce jour, tant au niveau des infrastructures que des investissements liés au projet.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nador West Med, Fouad Brini, presented to His Majesty the King a briefing on the progress of works and the achievements recorded to date, both in terms of infrastructure and investments related to the project.

Le projet Nador West Med s’inscrit dans le prolongement du succès international enregistré par le port Tanger Med, devenu le premier hub portuaire en Afrique et dans le bassin méditerranéen, dans le cadre d’une ambition royale visant à établir un système portuaire national intégré au service d’un développement territorial équilibré et de la création d’emplois.
The Nador West Med project builds on the international success achieved by Tanger Med Port, which has become the leading port hub in Africa and the Mediterranean basin, within a Royal ambition to establish an integrated national port system serving balanced territorial development and job creation.

Au niveau portuaire, l’ensemble des infrastructures de base a été achevé, comprenant 5.4 kilomètres de digues, 4 kilomètres de quais, ainsi que quatre hubs énergétiques. Deux contrats de concession ont également été signés pour les terminaux à conteneurs, lesquels entreront progressivement en exploitation à partir de l’année en cours.
At the port level, all core infrastructures have been completed, including 5.4 kilometers of breakwaters, 4 kilometers of berths, and four energy hubs. Two concession agreements have also been signed for container terminals, which will gradually enter into operation starting this year.

Le projet comprend également un pôle énergétique stratégique intégrant la première station de gaz naturel liquéfié du Royaume, avec une capacité annuelle de 5 billion cubic meters, ainsi qu’un terminal pétrolier, répondant aux exigences de la souveraineté énergétique nationale.
The project also includes a strategic energy hub incorporating the Kingdom’s first liquefied natural gas terminal, with an annual capacity of 5 billion cubic meters, as well as a petroleum terminal, meeting the requirements of national energy sovereignty.

Lors de sa mise en service, la capacité annuelle du port atteindra environ 5 million de conteneurs et 35 million de tonnes de marchandises liquides et solides, pour atteindre à long terme 12 million de conteneurs et 15 million de tonnes de marchandises liquides.
Upon commissioning, the port’s annual capacity will reach approximately 5 million containers and 35 million tons of liquid and solid cargo, rising in the long term to 12 million containers and 15 million tons of liquid cargo.

Parallèlement au complexe portuaire, le projet prévoit la création de nouvelles zones d’activités économiques s’étendant sur 700 hectares dans sa première phase, avec l’implantation déjà effective des premières installations d’acteurs internationaux. Les investissements privés confirmés à ce jour s’élèvent à près de 20 billion dirhams, reflétant la confiance des investisseurs internationaux dans le climat d’investissement au Maroc.
Alongside the port complex, the project includes the development of new economic activity zones covering 700 hectares in its first phase, with the initial establishments of international players already in place. À l’issue de cette présentation, Sa Majesté le Roi a donné Ses Hautes Instructions à l’ensemble des parties prenantes afin de prendre toutes les mesures nécessaires pour assurer le lancement du projet dans les meilleures conditions, en mettant l’accent sur la mise en œuvre rapide de specialised training programs to support investors and facilitate youth integration and employment.
Following this presentation, His Majesty the King issued His High Instructions to all stakeholders to take all necessary measures to ensure the project’s launch under optimal conditions, emphasizing the rapid implementation of specialized training programs to support investors and facilitate youth integration and employment.

Sa Majesté a également insisté sur la nécessité de permettre aux provinces relevant de la zone d’influence du port de bénéficier pleinement des retombées de ces investissements, à travers des programmes de mise à niveau urbaine et l’élaboration d’un multi-dimensional action plan ensuring the future development of the port and industrial complex.
His Majesty also stressed the need to ensure that provinces within the port’s sphere of influence fully benefit from these investments, through urban upgrading programs and the preparation of a multidimensional action plan guaranteeing the future development of the port and industrial complex.

Ont pris part à cette réunion le Ministre de l’Intérieur Abdelouafi Laftit, la Ministre de l’Économie et des Finances Nadia Fettah, le Ministre de l’Équipement et de l’Eau Nizar Baraka, le Ministre de l’Industrie et du Commerce Ryad Mezzour, la Ministre de la Transition Énergétique et du Développement Durable Leila Benali, ainsi que le Président du Conseil d’administration de Nador West Med, Fouad Brini.
