The draw for the Africa Cup of Nations for women has placed the Moroccan national team in Group A alongside Algeria, Senegal, and Kenya. The draw ceremony was held today, Thursday, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in the city of Salé. The tournament will take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3.
This edition features the participation of 16 national teams, following the Confederation of African Football’s decision to expand the number of teams compared to previous editions. The teams were divided into four groups, each comprising four national sides.
Under the competition format, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stages, which include the quarter-finals, semi-finals, the third-place match, and the final. The tournament will also award qualification spots, via playoff matches, for the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals scheduled to be held in Brazil in 2027.
The Moroccan team enters the competition benefiting from home advantage and the support of local fans, aiming for a strong start in the group stage. Fans of women’s football are anticipating highly competitive matches in an edition that promises to raise the level of continental competition.
