At the beginning of this week, Abdelkrim El Ghannami, Governor of Taounate Province, carried out a field visit to Ain Maâtoof Municipality, where he chaired a communication meeting bringing together elected officials from four territorial municipalities التابعة لدائرة تيسة، namely Ain Maâtoof, Ain Aïcha, Oulad Daoud, and Bouarrous.

During the meeting, the provincial governor stressed the importance of strengthening coordination among the various territorial stakeholders, calling for the adoption of a clear working methodology based on cooperation and complementarity, as well as the establishment of principles of transparency and participatory governance. He emphasized that such an approach would help improve the performance of territorial municipalities and serve the development process of the province across multiple sectors.

The governor also underscored that the integrated territorial development programs, currently being prepared in implementation of the Royal High Instructions, constitute the most appropriate framework for examining various requests and proposals and translating them into action through a participatory approach that takes into account priorities and available resources.

As part of monitoring and supporting major development projects in the province, the Governor of Taounate also conducted an inspection visit to the Sidi Abou Dam construction site, located within the territory of Ain Maâtoof Municipality. The project is considered one of the most prominent structuring water infrastructure projects in the province.

During the visit, project supervisors provided technical briefings on the dam’s characteristics and objectives. The dam has a storage capacity of approximately 200 million cubic meters and is expected to contribute to strengthening water security, improving water supply conditions, supporting agricultural activities, and generating direct positive impacts for the surrounding population.

In this regard, the information presented indicated that the progress rate of the Sidi Abou Dam works has reached around 99%, which is set to enhance Taounate Province’s position within the Sebou River Basin, classified as the largest water basin at the national level.

This visit falls within the framework of monitoring major development projects and ensuring close follow-up of structuring initiatives in line with the developmental and water-related challenges facing the Fes–Meknes region.
