Taza – The local branch of the National Association of Unemployed Graduates in Morocco in Taza has stepped up its protest actions, announcing a shift toward more escalatory forms of mobilization following an ordinary general assembly dedicated to assessing the local employment situation.
According to information obtained by Fes News, the local branch held its general assembly on Sunday, 11 January 2026, at the headquarters of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights in Taza, with the participation of a number of unemployed graduates.
During the meeting, participants discussed the social and economic conditions facing this group and examined ways to advance their demands related to the right to employment. In what was described as a serious and responsible debate, attendees stressed the need to move toward a graduated protest program, considering that the current phase requires new forms of action in light of what they described as the absence of practical solutions to the employment file.
Following the conclusion of the general assembly, protesters organized a demonstration march that started from Independence Square, passed through several streets of the city, and headed toward 20 August Park, before reaching Mauritania Park.
During the march, participants chanted slogans calling for job creation and improved social conditions, while also expressing their positions on public policies affecting key sectors, including employment, education, and health.
Observers noted that the march drew reactions from a number of citizens, some of whom expressed solidarity with the protesters’ demands. The demonstration also included awareness stops introducing the National Association of Unemployed Graduates in Morocco and its protest program, with an emphasis on the peaceful nature of the movement.
In the same context, the local branch announced the organization of a partial sit-in in front of the Taza Provincial Governorate headquarters, scheduled for Tuesday, 13 January 2026, starting at 11:00 a.m.
The branch stated that this step forms part of a broader protest program aimed at drawing the attention of the relevant authorities to the employment situation in the city and encouraging engagement with the social demands being raised.
