Taza — The placement of mobile sanitary facilities at August 20 Park in the city of Taza has, in recent days, sparked a wave of questions and sarcastic comments among citizens, after it emerged that the facilities are not usable despite being located in a public space that has seen increasing footfall.
According to consistent accounts, the installation of these facilities coincided with the setting up of a fan zone inside the park, leading many visitors to welcome what they hoped would be the provision of a long-demanded basic service for users of this green space. However, that optimism quickly faded after it was discovered that the toilets are not actually operational.
In this context, one citizen expressed surprise at what he described as an “incomprehensible step,” saying: “I thought the presence of these facilities would help improve reception conditions in the park, but I was surprised to find they are unusable, as if they were installed merely for appearances.” Observers note that such statements reflect citizens’ personal views regarding the state of public facilities in the city.
Local affairs observers believe this situation raises legitimate questions about the purpose of installing such facilities without enabling citizens to benefit from them in practice—especially given that parks and public spaces serve as vital outlets for families and children and require, at a minimum, adequate equipment and services.
Pending official clarifications from the relevant authorities at the Taza municipality regarding the status of these sanitary facilities, several citizens have renewed calls for practical and lasting solutions that meet users’ needs and help improve the quality of services in public spaces, in line with residents’ expectations and respect for their dignity.
