Promotion of 8,913 Female and Male Police Officers in 2025… National Security Accelerates Career Advancement

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced that a total of 8,913 female and male police officers benefited from promotion during the 2025 financial year, representing nearly 65 percent of all candidates listed for promotion.

According to an official statement by the Directorate, this annual process concerned 6,033 uniformed police officers, in addition to 2,880 officers in plainclothes, as part of efforts to ensure the regularity of promotion procedures and to motivate security human resources.

The same source added that particular attention was given to lower and intermediate ranks, through the adoption of objective professional criteria that broadened the base of beneficiaries, thereby offering greater opportunities for career advancement and improving the professional paths of a significant number of officers.

In this regard, the statement indicated that promotion to the rank of Police Brigadier benefited 509 officers, with a rate of nearly 94 percent. Meanwhile, approximately 2,717 officers were promoted to the rank of Chief Police Brigadier, at a rate reaching 98 percent, while 1,040 officers benefited from promotion to the rank of Outstanding Police Inspector, representing nearly 97 percent of all candidates.

To ensure that promotion is linked to principles of merit, competence, and equal opportunity, promotion committees relied—according to the statement—on an integrated charter for evaluating professional performance and annual scoring. This framework is based on a set of precise criteria, including professional competence, performance in carrying out duties, seniority in rank and profession, as well as career record and professional conduct.

In concluding its statement, the General Directorate of National Security emphasized that promotion constitutes one of the key mechanisms for career advancement within the institution. It reaffirmed its commitment to conducting promotions on a regular annual basis and announcing them within the usual timeframes, considering them among the most important administrative incentives that encourage officers to continue their dedication and selflessness in performing their duties related to safeguarding citizens’ security, protecting property, and improving policing services.
