Shocking Scene: Critically Ill Woman Transported on a Donkey After Access Routes Were Cut Off in “Douar Al-Borahi” (Taza)

Fes News observed a video circulating on Facebook pages documenting a distressing scene from Douar Al-Borahi, under the commune of Meknassa Ash-Sharqia, where residents were forced to transport a woman in critical health condition on the back of a donkey for a distance of more than 4 kilometers, amid mud and while crossing water channels, due to difficult access to the hamlet following recent rainfall.

According to what appears in the circulated footage, the incident occurred in the context of the absence of an ambulance and the inability of regular vehicles to reach the area because of the lack of passable road tracks, leading to the hamlet’s isolation and hindering a rapid response to the emergency case.

Local civil society actors, in similar statements, said the incident highlights the fragility of infrastructure and the challenges of accessing basic services in rural areas—especially during rainy periods. They called for ending isolation by building roads and bridges and improving tracks, alongside strengthening medical transport services and ensuring emergency interventions that protect the right to healthcare under safe conditions.

Fes News places these elements before the locally and provincially concerned authorities—including the commune of Meknassa Ash-Sharqia and the competent health services—seeking clarification regarding the incident and engagement with residents’ demands, while emphasizing the right of reply and its readiness to publish any official statement received on the matter.
