MP Ikram El Hannawi, from the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) group representing the Fès–Meknès region, submitted a written question to the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tahraoui, regarding what she described as a severe shortage in health services at Hassan II Hospital in the Ghafsai district, Taounate Province.
In her question, the MP stated that residents of the district—covering 13 territorial communes—are experiencing growing frustration due to the scarcity of human resources and the lack of basic equipment at the hospital, which is expected to provide inpatient and healthcare services to the population concerned.
She added that the issue had been raised previously in an earlier written question without, بحسب تعبيرها, any recorded response, noting that the hospital lacks minimum treatment conditions. She cited, in particular, shortages of medical and nursing staff, the absence of basic diagnostic tools such as X-ray and CT scan equipment, and limited—or missing—medical specialties.
The MP also pointed to what she described as deterioration in facilities and infrastructure, as well as a lack of adequate health and hygiene conditions within the hospital.
She concluded by calling on the ministry to clarify the measures it plans to take to rehabilitate the hospital, provide it with the necessary staff and equipment, and improve the quality of healthcare services for residents of Ghafsai and surrounding areas.
