West Bank: Three Italians and One Canadian Injured and Robbed by Israeli Settlers Near Jericho

Jericho – News reports indicated that four international activists, including three Italians and one Canadian, were assaulted and robbed by Israeli settlers in the Ein ad-Duyuk area west of Jericho in the occupied West Bank. They were transferred to Jericho Hospital for treatment before being released the same day.

According to the account of one of the victims, who spoke to Agence France-Presse on condition of anonymity, the incident occurred while they were staying in the area as “international activists.” Around ten masked settlers stormed their residence before dawn on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Two of them were carrying firearms, and some had sticks. The victim stated: “We were sleeping at night, then ten masked settlers arrived, two of whom were armed with rifles, and some carrying sticks. They hit me several times in the face, ribs, and hip.” She added that the attack lasted for 10 to 15 minutes before the assailants stole all their belongings, including passports, phones, wallets, and credit cards, and then left the scene.

Riyad Eid, director of the Jericho Governmental Hospital, confirmed that the four arrived at the hospital on Sunday morning, suffering from bruises on their faces and chests, and that one of them was struck in a sensitive area. He noted that their condition was not serious, and they were later discharged. The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement confirming that “three Italian international volunteers” were attacked overnight by Israeli settlers near Jericho. The settlers stormed their residence, beat them, and stole all their personal belongings. The statement clarified that Minister Antonio Tajani is following the situation in coordination with the Italian Consul General in Jerusalem.

This attack comes amid a surge in violence in the occupied West Bank since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. The violence has not ceased despite the ceasefire agreement that went into effect on October 10, 2025. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), October 2025 witnessed a peak in “settler attacks resulting in casualties or property damage, or both,” the highest in nearly two decades of data collection. More than 500,000 Israelis live in settlements considered illegal under international law by the United Nations, in territories inhabited by about three million Palestinians, excluding occupied and annexed East Jerusalem.
