His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, President of the Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Oum Kalthoum, presided on Saturday evening at Bab Ighli Palace in Marrakech over the official dinner hosted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, on the occasion of the official opening of the 22nd edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival.
Upon their arrival, Prince Moulay Rachid and Princess Lalla Oum Kalthoum reviewed a formation of Auxiliary Forces that rendered honors, then a number of senior officials and national figures came forward to greet them, including:
- Mrs. Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance;
- Mrs. Fatima Zahra El Mansouri, Minister of National Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy, and President of the Marrakech Municipal Council;
- Mrs. Fatima Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy;
- Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication.
Also greeting Their Royal Highnesses were the Wali of Marrakech-Safi region Mr. Khatib El Hebil, the President of the Regional Council Mr. Samir Goudar, the President of Marrakech Prefecture Council Mrs. Jamila Afif, and the President of Mechouar-Kasbah Municipal Council Mr. Abderrahmane El Ouafa.
Their Highnesses also received greetings from members of the Festival Foundation’s executive administration, including Delegate Vice President Mr. Faisal El Araissi, Advisor Melita Toscan du Plantier, Artistic Director Rémi Bonhomme, Financial Advisor Azzedine Benmoussa, Secretary General Fadoua Mekkaoui, Treasurer General Saad El Amani, Financial Director Naoufal Benssouda, and General Coordinator Ali Hajji.
Afterward, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid and Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Oum Kalthoum proceeded to the honorary hall, where members of the 22nd edition’s jury were presented, alongside international cinema stars in attendance and the Festival’s national and international partners.
It should be noted that the 22nd edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival, organized under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, officially opened on Friday evening at the Congress Palace in the Red City, with the attendance of an elite group of prominent figures in cinema, art, culture and media from Morocco and around the world.
