Princess Lalla Meryem Presides Over Inauguration Ceremony of Charitable “Solidarity Bazaar” to Support Moroccan NGOs

Press Article: Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem presided today, Saturday, over the inauguration ceremony of the charitable “Solidarity Bazaar” of the Diplomatic Club at the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco in Rabat, under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him. This prominent event represents an annual occasion to celebrate the values of friendship and solidarity, and to support Moroccan non-governmental organizations working on behalf of underprivileged groups.

Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem arrived at the National Library, where she was received by a number of prominent figures, including the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, Mrs. Naima Benyahya, alongside the Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, Mr. Mohamed Yacoubi, the President of the Regional Council, Mr. Rachid Abdi, and other local officials and diplomats.

A number of ambassadors also came forward to greet Her Highness, including the Ambassador of Romania, Maria Ciobanu, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Saulegul Sailaukyzy, the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan, Mawada Omar Haj Altom Al-Badawi, in addition to the Ambassador of Canada, Isabelle Valois, the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Le Kim Quyen, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Tunisian Republic Embassy, Raja Yousfi.

After cutting the symbolic ribbon marking the inauguration of the bazaar, the spouses of ambassadors accredited in Rabat came forward to greet Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem, who toured the various pavilions of the bazaar, where a wide range of traditional and local products representing different countries and continents were displayed. The exhibits varied between traditional crafts, textiles, and artistic works, reflecting the great cultural and artistic diversity enjoyed by Morocco and other participating countries.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Princess Lalla Meryem took a commemorative photo with members of the Diplomatic Club, expressing continued support for charitable initiatives launched by the Club.

Supporting Moroccan Non-Governmental Organizations

The charitable “Solidarity Bazaar,” organized by the Diplomatic Club, represents the most prominent activity reflecting the commitment of diplomatic entities in Morocco to supporting social and humanitarian solidarity causes. The event aims to collect donations to support Moroccan non-governmental organizations working in the fields of education, health, and improving the situation of women in rural areas. The bazaar also seeks to strengthen values of fraternity and solidarity between different cultures, and to affirm the strong bonds between Morocco and diplomatic missions accredited to the Kingdom.

More than forty countries and international organizations participate in the 2025 edition of the bazaar, representing the continents of Africa, America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. This event is considered an important platform for displaying products that reflect the cultural and economic diversity of participating countries, in addition to being an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation in the fields of humanitarian work.

Through this initiative, the Diplomatic Club strengthens the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Morocco and diplomats accredited in the Kingdom, and reflects Morocco’s deep commitment to the values of humanity and solidarity.
