The Bourgaiz Local Prison in the city of Fez witnessed, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, the organization of a multi-specialty medical caravan, under the directives of the Governor of Moulay Yacoub Province, Mr. Samir Khamlich, and within the framework of a partnership agreement signed between the Ministry of Health Delegation in Moulay Yacoub Province, the Provincial Committee of the National Initiative for Human Development, and the “Issaad” Association regarding a project for promoting development for younger generations, especially in the area of maternal and child health.
The medical caravan provided a wide range of examinations for 585 male and female inmates, distributed across several medical specialties, including:
- General medicine
- Dermatology
- Respiratory medicine
- Nephrology and urology
- Ultrasound examination
- Gynecology and obstetrics
- Visual acuity testing
This initiative aims to bring medical services closer to the prison population and improve their health conditions.
Well-Organized and Praised Initiative
A statement on the subject indicated that the caravan took place under good organizational conditions, thanks to coordination between the prison institution’s administration and the Ministry of Health teams, which enabled a large number of inmates to benefit from the examinations.
The statement also expressed special thanks to the Governor of Moulay Yacoub Province for his support of this medical initiative and his concern for the conditions of this category that receives state care. Thanks were also extended to all actors who contributed to the success of the caravan, in appreciation of their efforts to support and assist the prison population.
Initiative Strengthens Healthcare Within Prison Institutions
This medical campaign confirms the local authorities’ and health agencies’ commitment to developing healthcare programs within prison institutions and establishing a humanitarian approach aimed at protecting the health of male and female inmates and continuing to provide regular, quality medical services.
