New York – The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in New York organized a celebratory event on Saturday, November 8, 2025, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Green March, while celebrating the latest UN resolution regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue. The event witnessed wide attendance exceeding 200 people, representing various segments of Moroccan and American society.
The celebration opened with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, giving the occasion a spiritual and historical character. The event was held in the celebrations hall at the Consulate General headquarters in New York, with festivities presided over by Consul General Mohamed Ait Bahi. Attendees included representatives of Moroccan-American civil society associations, in addition to an elite group of Moroccan professionals in various fields, such as doctors, engineers, and senior officials. American poets and figures also participated in the celebration, giving the occasion a shared cultural and diplomatic character.
This celebration comes in the context of commemorating the Green March, which represents an important historical event in Morocco’s history, coinciding with the latest UN resolution that reinforces the Moroccan position on the Sahara issue. Participants emphasized the importance of this occasion in strengthening ties between the Moroccan community and American society, while affirming the consulate’s diplomatic role in supporting these efforts.
