Poland announced today, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, its support for the autonomy plan presented by Morocco in 2007, describing it as a “serious, realistic, and pragmatic basis” for achieving a lasting settlement of the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
This position was expressed by the Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Radosław Sikorski, in a joint statement following a telephone discussion with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita.
Poland’s support adds to the list of European Union member states endorsing this plan, with 23 European countries and more than 120 countries worldwide backing a permanent solution under autonomy within Moroccan sovereignty.
