Today, Sunday, October 19, 2025, marks the end of the interim management period of the Fez-Meknes Wilaya, which lasted over four months, with the official appointment of Mr. Khalid Ait Taleb as Wali of the region and Governor of Fez Prefecture during the ministerial council chaired by His Majesty the King.
This transitional period began on June 10 and 11, 2025, when the former Wali, Mr. Moad Jamai, was dismissed from his duties. Following this decision, the Ministry of Interior assigned Mr. Abdelghani Essabbâr, Governor of Meknes Prefecture, to assume the responsibilities of acting Wali of the region.
Mr. Essabbâr managed the Wilaya’s affairs in an interim capacity until early October. Around October 3, 2025, a second interim official, Mr. Khalid Zarwali, Wali and Director of Immigration and Border Control at the Ministry of Interior, was entrusted with temporarily managing the Wilaya’s affairs.
The ministerial council held today closed this chapter of provisional management by appointing Mr. Khalid Ait Taleb, former Minister of Health and Social Protection and former Director of Hassan II University Hospital Center in Fez, as the official Wali of Fez-Meknes.
