Duke Pocan sworn in as new US Ambassador to Morocco

The United States Embassy in Morocco announced that Duke Buchan officially took the oath yesterday as the new U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco, paving the way for the commencement of his diplomatic duties soon in Rabat.

The embassy confirmed on its Facebook page that Ambassador Buchan looks forward to arriving in Morocco as soon as possible to strengthen and deepen the longstanding partnership that unites the United States and Morocco, which spans decades of fruitful cooperation across multiple sectors.

The appointment of the new ambassador comes amid growing bilateral relations, encompassing security, investment, education, and sustainable development, as well as strategic cooperation on regional and international issues.

Morocco is considered one of the United States’ most prominent regional partners in Africa and the Middle East, with the two countries bound by a free trade agreement, close collaboration in counterterrorism efforts, and support for regional stability.

Ambassador Duke Buchan’s arrival in Rabat is expected to provide new momentum in the trajectory of Moroccan-American relations, particularly given the shared desire to elevate economic and investment cooperation to higher levels and broaden coordination on issues of mutual interest.
