In a detailed presentation, Mr. Mounir Shantir, President of the Taza Municipal Council, revealed the imminent launch of several vital projects as part of the developmental momentum the city is experiencing. This came during his report on council activities between sessions, where he reviewed the most important completed projects and those underway.
Among the highlighted projects, Mr. Shantir mentioned the rehabilitation of the city’s eastern entrance from the fish market up to the university roundabout, which has reached about 80% completion, with the contract for landscaping the green areas already awarded. He also referred to relocating the weekly market to its current location and the start of work next week to complete its protective wall.
He announced the launch of work on the new generation railway station and the western entrance project extending from the highway roundabout to Al-Bahra roundabout. This project includes road doubling, landscaping, public lighting, and the construction of two bridges, aiming to provide the city with an entrance worthy of its historic status.
Regarding Tariq Al-Wahda Street, the contract for its rehabilitation was approved, with construction expected to begin within two months, after the completion of works on other streets currently under development. Additionally, work on Al-Hassan II and Hassan Bahtat streets is set to start within the next four months, alongside progress on Moulay Youssef Street, Mohammed V Street, and March 3 Street.
Mr. Shantir also touched on the construction of the large stadium in the Sidi Hamou Mftah area and local neighborhood playgrounds, along with the renovation of the municipal stadium, for which the architectural study has been completed and a contract is expected to be awarded within two months.
Other projects mentioned include the preparation of Qasou Maddah Street, for which the contract has been approved and awaits the start of construction; the development of Al-Taqaddom (Al-Kousha), Al-Nahda (Douar Ayad), and Wareda neighborhoods; and the completion of the architectural study for the restoration of the old city and its surrounding walls.
He also noted the preparation of Bougoulal Road and the start of landscaping Bab Al-Reeh Park and Mohammed Belhaj Street from Bab Al-Reeh to the Taza province junction. This project includes park development, public sidewalks, and landscaping.
These projects are part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance infrastructure, improve living standards in Taza, and equip its facilities to meet the aspirations of its residents and its rich historical heritage.
