In implementation of the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the “Jebel Sahra” exercise kicked off on October 1, 2025, in the “Rammerm” military training area near Marrakech. This new edition is organized by the Royal Armed Forces in partnership with their British counterparts, reflecting a deep and strategic partnership between Morocco and the United Kingdom.
The exercise runs until October 17, consolidating its position as one of the most prestigious bilateral drills, regularly held since 1989. It serves as an annual platform for exchanging operational and tactical expertise, honing coordination, planning, and combat readiness skills in training environments that simulate real-world climate and operational challenges.
This year’s edition carries special significance as it marks the 25th anniversary of the exercise’s inception. A distinguished ceremony was held in its honor, attended by the British Ambassador to Rabat and senior military officers and officials from both sides, symbolizing the strength of the historical ties and the solid defense cooperation between the two friendly nations.
The “Jebel Sahra 2025” exercise involves Moroccan and British military units, including elements from the Royal Gendarmerie, the 1st and 2nd Paratrooper Infantry Brigades of the Royal Armed Forces, and the Royal Gibraltar Regiment from the British Armed Forces. The exercise stages advanced tactical maneuvers and precise training focusing on rapid intervention, urban warfare, and joint multi-weapon maneuvers, all enhancing operational harmony between the participating units.
